Death and destruction are all around, and increasing daily.
The government has gone beyond incompetence and embraced malice toward the People and the things we care about, the things we formed that government to protect. Worse, before showing its hand, that government became so powerful that it cannot now be stopped. Like all parasites, it will die once it's consumed its host. That may take a while, and the downside is, our People are the host, and we don't want our lives consumed.
The less you're involved in activities the FOE (Forces of Evil) are using to suck the life out of people, the less you'll suffer, and the quicker the collapse will come. Best to get it over with, since it can't be stopped: no sense in dragging it out.
Once society's collapsed, there are two great dangers above all the others: open tyranny and hidden tyranny.
In times of chaos, gangs form, based on some pretty childish emotional dynamics. They have to form on emotional dynamics, because that's the only way one guy with a gun can be made to obey another guy with the same gun. Two of those capture a third, and those start separating the people around them into those with backbone and those without. Those with backbone get killed, those without become the pack, gang, or tribe run by the gang o' bullies.
By preparing now, you can be ready to defeat these gangs, preferably when they're just starting to form.
But whatever you do, remember this: surviving the destruction ahead is not enough. You and I need to be ready for the dangers that will come after, and NOT let America sink back into the Stone Age, nor be captured by the despotic rule of whoever stashed some weapons and trucks in a cave for use against us later.
In any outfit you join during times of chaos, make your joining conditional on trial by jury, no new laws, and civilian control of the military. If some gang's inviting you to join, and refuses those terms, refer the issue back to the field of battle. You'll do better than you might think, and the loss if you give in is worse than death.
Though we are a Christian missions organization, we're working to help everyone prepare and escape who has the good sense to, without preaching at them or requiring a pretense at conversion. This is an emergency, and since there are no lifeboats to man, we have to build some.
